Press Release Summary: A young brother and sister team defeated some of the best adult professionals in the nation in the exciting eXtreme sports competition of indoor skydiving.
Press Release Body: Lone Tree, CO - These kids are too young to jump from planes, but that has not stopped them from entering indoor skydiving competitions in wind tunnels, and beating top adult skydivers.
Kayla Tinucci, 12, and her brother Justin, 9, have to wait until they turn 18 before they can jump out of a plane. That has not stopped them from competing against adult professionals in wind tunnel competitions.
They call themselves "Team Future" and are the only professional indoor skydiving team made up of kids. They are able to compete because of the use of indoor wind tunnels for this eXtreme sport.
The Tinuccis have just returned from the Throw Down the Gauntlet Tunnel Competition at SkyVenture in Eloy, AZ.
"Justin and Kayla have proven to the world that kids can do as well as adults, and that they are top competitors," said their coach Daniel Perry.
Team Future won a second place medal in the four way intermediate category, coming in just behind the Special Forces national four way team from Singapore. They also placed fifth in the two way pro free fly VFS. There are no age groups, so they had to beat adult teams to take home these awards.
Were they disappointed they did not win a medal in both categories?
"They were thrilled to do so well against adults who have been competing for longer than these kids have been alive. It gives them something to work towards. Now they know what they have to do to win gold. This experience was just one step in what is likely to be a long career for them," said Perry.
In addition to training at the SkyVenture Colorado vertical wind tunnel in Lone Tree four times a week, the Tinucci kids are not much different from other kids their age. They both play on soccer teams, and love to play video games.
Justin and Kayla have already received national attention with appearances on Good Morning America, ABC World News, CBS The Early Show, as well as local programs and news stories which can be seen on their web site at http://www.Team-Future.net
